U.S. News and World Report has released its 2012–2013 lists of the best hospitals across the U.S., ranked by specialty and by region. Separate lists for children's hospitals are also offered. The lists aim "to identify the best medical centers for the most difficult patients."
This year, in determining a hospital's score, the magazine gave less weight to the hospital's reputation and more weight to data that are publicly available and less subjective — for example, information from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
