Children in middle school/homemade tattoo's

.
In the News yesterday, Rockingham County parents are showing concern for their children in Triad middle school. It seems the kids have been experimenting with homemade tattoos. Some of the students have learned how to fashion a tool by using an electric toothbrush and then placing a needle on top. As for the ink ? They used the ink from a ball point pin. Parents and officials are concerned about infections, or transmitting bloodborne diseases like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Tetanus and HIV.
.
A few days ago, there were more concerns in an article reporting 20-something kids biting each other to emulate the whole vampire craze. In August a Ohio paper ran the same story about kids biting and drawing blood. What really caught my eye was another article from Ohio this summer: Scioto County Ranks First In Hepatitis C Cases .
The top ten counties for hepatitis c are in rural southern Ohio. The article reported that ten years ago that wasn't the case. The drug of choice is oxycodone injections, and the disease is HCV. l

A large population of Kids experiment with drugs, that's a given. Some parents may blindly defend their child by saying "not their kid". They might be right , but what if they're wrong?
For all those parents out there, good kids make bad decisions. Please talk to your children on a daily basis. As parents we know our kids have all sorts of different social pressures to contend with in school. The child that sits at your dinner table is often not the same child that hangs with friends. Check up on them, watch over them, and maybe you can find them before they become lost.
