Get Involved
Thunderclap is a tool that allows supporters to sign up in advance and share a unified message simultaneously across social media platforms to create a wave or “thunderclap.” Joining the Be #HepAware Thunderclap is easy:

Three major events promote month of May as Hepatitis Awareness Month
Although National Hepatitis Testing Day is May 19, San Francisco hepatitis service providers will be out in force on May 18 at the Asian Heritage Festival in the Tenderloin. Produced by AsianWeek Foundation, San Francisco Hep B Free, the San Francisco Hep C Task Force and the Hep B/C Alliance, they will again collaborate with local agencies to offer hepatitis B and C education and testing, along with vaccinations for hepatitis A and B.

Sanford, Fla. – In observance of National Hepatitis Awareness Month, the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County (DOH-Seminole) is providing free hepatitis testing during the month of May.
The intent of the annual observance is to raise awareness about the global impact of viral hepatitis and the importance of preventing hepatitis-related liver disease, including liver cancer.The Hepatitis Prevention Program in Seminole County will provide free hepatitis testing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 400 West Airport Boulevard, Sanford.

Free Testing Offered During Hepatitis Awareness Month
In order to promote individual and community knowledge, the City of El Paso Department of Public Health is joining other local and state agencies across the county to celebrate Hepatitis Awareness Month.
As a part of this effort, the HIV Prevention Program is offering free Hepatitis C testing every Friday this month (May 6, 13, 20 and 27) from 8:00 to 11:30 amand 1:00 to 5:00 pm (222 S. Campbell, Room 105)

On Thursday, May 19, a hepatitis C screening will be offered free of charge at three locations in Clallam County
Screening will be performed by trained medical personnel and nursing students and requires a finger stick to collect a small drop of blood. Testing takes about 30 minutes to complete. Although walk-ins are welcome, you are encouraged to call 457-4431 to schedule an appointment.

The Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network, Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada and Hepatitis Services, BC Centre for Disease Control are partnering on the National Aboriginal Hepatitis C Awareness Campaign having agreed upon a mutual desire to work together to recognize the diversity and rights of Aboriginal Peoples regardless of residency, including the rights of Aboriginal Peoples to access and benefit from hepatitis C (HCV) prevention education and awareness, as well as related care, treatment and support to maintain a quality of life in a culturally appropriate manner.

Deaths from hepatitis C have reached an all-time high. That's according to a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The announcement also says the disease kills more Americans than any other infectious disease. Despite new treatments that can cure many cases of hepatitis C, the report shows 19,659 people died of it in 2014. One issue may be many people don't know they have hepatitis C so they don't seek treatment.

Significantly, FDA says it now expects sponsors of new HCV DAAs to conduct at least one head-to-head Phase III trial against an approved comparator. "Ideally … an active comparator in a Phase III, controlled trial should be an antiviral drug that is recommended for treatment of chronic HCV infection by authoritative scientific bodies based on clinical evidence that also reflects current practice," FDA writes.
